The Miracle of Dental Implants

For years tooth replacement meant removable dentures or bridges - the latter comprised of replacement teeth connected to surrounding natural teeth.

Today, however, a new breakthrough technology gives you replacement teeth that look, feel, and function just like natural teeth. These are dental implants.

As you probably know, a tooth consists of a crown and a root. The crown is the part of the tooth that is visible in the mouth; the root is the part you can’t see under the gum tissue.

The crown is supported by the root, which is in turn attached to the bone. Implants take the place of the root, becoming affixed to the bone, with an artificial crown portion attached.

Dental implants eliminate the problems of loose-fitting complete or partial dentures. Implants also stop deterioration in your jawbone when natural teeth are lost. And of course the ability to eat virtually anything with ease contributes to your overall health and feeling of self-confidence.
